A woman named Dana McCall bumps into Dr. Milgram and requests an appointment, as Dr. Steck and Dr. Finlayson review Milgram's recent job performance. Later, Milgram and Evelyn enjoy some much-needed time together at a restaurant near the bay. Meanwhile Sally meets with Dean Savage, Private Investigator. Savage is curious about her interest in Milgram, on whom she is having him do background research. Sally's boss Bix, impatient with her recent distractions, interrupts their meeting. He needs her to get over to see the client whose huge case they will litigate in a few days.

Sally comes out of her flashback disoriented, as Steck challenges Milgram on his new patient, who will be making her first visit that day. Distracted by office administration, Dr. Milgram is taken by surprise as his assistant Pam ushers in new client Sally Lemm, who doesn't "really want to be here..." Off to a rocky start, Milgram and Sally begin to discuss her issues, but are interrupted by a surprise visit from Dr. Steck. After her first visit, Sally surprises Milgram by handing him some papers, and telling him she thinks something weird is going on.

Work pressures trigger flashbacks Sally can't comprehend, and she leaves her office to re-compose, only to fall deeper into recollection of a significant past event in her life.

An apprehensive Steck senses that Milgram is wandering, his interest now oddly and whimsically focused on cases of people having "dreams, aliens, spaceships." Its not easy managing the team's MVP...

Sally loses it in front of Mimi, indicating how the sleep loss, the boyfriend and the dreams are taking a severe toll on her.
