KoldCast TV… IT’S ON!

Cross Pollination
The KoldCast TV Advanced Media Player and Multi-Level Network and Channel Guide navigation system that makes it so easy for viewers to find our programming, also allows us to easily “cross-pollinate” Shows across multiple Networks and Channels where it makes sense to do so.  This means that you may find the same Shows in more than one place on KoldCast TV.  So, yes, it is intentional and it is very helpful to our Content partners who produce these great Shows.

An example:  The Ointment, a daily news show can be found on our Comedy Network and NewsRoom Network as The Ointment is both a Comedy and a News Show.

HD Content
With respect to HD content cross-pollination, the “HD version” of HD-produced Shows only appears within our KCHD Theater Network and Channels.  We play non-HD versions of these same Shows in other Networks and Channels when we cross-pollinate.

HD Streaming
Delivering HD programming is no easy task, especially when you’re the first to deliver it in full screen mode!  Nonetheless, unless you have a super fast, and we mean super fast, internet connection, you may experience a momentary delay before your HD programming selection begins to stream flawlessly.  We recommend that once you click the Play button for an HD Show/Episode, you may want to press the Pause button immediately to allow these gigantic HD programs to load/buffer.  Clicking the Play button again after a brief pause should deliver a flawless entertainment experience.  It’s awesome, in fact!

Do I have to pay a monthly fee to view KoldCast TV?
No, you only need an internet connection and a computer.

What does my computer need to have on it to watch KoldCast TV?

While KoldCast will work on any computer that has an updated web browser, the following recommendations represent the basics that will ensure the optimum entertainment experience.
• A minimum monitor size of 14” with a widescreen format (WXGA) and minimum screen resolution (pixel dimensions) of 1280 x 768, a/k/a 720p, which is currently the standard in HD cable.
• Pentium IV or faster, Mac G4 or faster
• Windows XP/Vista, or Mac OSX
• The most current version of Adobe Flash Reader (You may already have it installed)
• 128MB RAM or better (1GB RAM Recommended)
• Graphics Card with 128MB RAM or better (256MB RAM Recommended)
• Sound Card supporting 2 audio channels (stereo) or 5.1 channels (surround)
• A good set of Stereo or Surround speakers
• Modem: DSL @ 768kbps (Cable @ 2Mbps Recommended)
• Browsers: Internet Explorer 6, 7 (IE 7 Recommended), Safari 3, Firefox 2, Opera 9

KoldCast TV recognizes that older computers and some cable and DSL connections (bandwidth), that determine how fast you can stream video programming, may not be able to deliver such a high-quality video signal at this point in time.  However, many people can, and those who can’t will be able to very soon.

In order to post Comments, rate Shows, post entries in The Vibe (Blog) or do anything interactive other than watch Shows, you’ll want to Sign Up.  When you do, you’ll also receive notifications on the latest updates, news and events that will make your KoldCast TV entertainment experience a more fulfilling one.

Can I watch KoldCast TV on my iPhone?

With the upcoming release of Adobe Flash Video support for the iPhone, viewers will be able to watch KoldCast TV on iPhones.

Beta: Take One - What does it really mean?

The newest definition of “Beta,” among hundreds of high-profile websites these days, seems to mean, “In case you encounter an ‘anomaly’ while visiting our Site, please don’t be disappointed; we’re new at this,” even though many Sites post Beta status for as long as a year or more.
We’ll, our definition of Beta is different; our means, “In case you encounter an ‘anomaly’ while visiting our Site, please don’t be disappointed; we tried really hard to get it right, and we’ll keep trying until we do.”
We’ll post any known “inconveniences” as we learn about them, if we can’t make them “convenient” quickly!  Be sure to check The Vibe and/or our Blog for a heads-up.

Can I watch KoldCast TV on my Gaming Console?

Yes, as long as the gaming console supports the following requirements:
• Internet Access
• A web browser with Flash Video Support

Currently, the Sony Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii are the only two gaming consoles with web browsers that support Flash video.  To watch KoldCast TV on the Nintendo Wii, viewers will need to download the Opera Web Browser on their console.  For more information on the Opera Browser, visit: http://www.opera.com/products/devices/nintendo/.

We’re sure glad you found us and now it’s time to explore the Beta Release: Take One of KoldCast TV.  We know that if you’re reading this Blog that you’ve already started to make your way through the KoldCast TV Network site, but we want to be sure that you enjoy the best entertainment experience possible.  So here are a few tips.  Have fun!

The KoldCast Animation and Voice
When you first entered our KoldCast TV Network site, you saw a brief KoldCast TV animation and heard the talented voice of Jason Hildebrandt, as heard on so many national television spots and promos.  When the animation completes, our Network Guide appears.  Subsequently, if you take a break and return to KoldCast more than an hour later, you’ll see the animation and hear Jason’s voice again.

Our “Sign Up” Button [Found at the Top of our Pages]
Watching great videos is easy, but you can enjoy a fully interactive experience by clicking the “Sign Up” button and becoming a registered KoldCast TV Viewer.  Doing so gives you full access to all interactive features within KoldCast TV such as commenting, blogging and communicating with other Viewers in The Vibe.  Signing up also provides KoldCast with the ability to share valuable messages with you about future programming and all other important announcements.  Go ahead and Sign Up; it only takes a minute.

Once you have signed up, the Sign Up button will disappear and you can Sign In and Sign Out at your convenience thereafter.  You’ll find the ”Sign In” and ”Sign Out” buttons, right next to our ”Search” button, just below our KoldCast Logo at the top of each Page.  And, speaking of the KoldCast Logo…

Our Multi-Level Network and Channel Guides [Makin’ it easy to find stuff!]
So here’s the skinny on this incredibly cool advancement in Player technology and navigation:  We’re keeping our Page around our Player open; this not only keeps the Page looking elegant and uncluttered, it creates an opportunity for a new form of advertising that we’ll be rolling out soon.  Forget all those unsightly and obtrusive banner ads you see out there, our “real estate” is designed to make advertising a form of entertainment. Watch for it. You’ll dig it. We promise.

So, anyway, you want to watch a Show, right?  Listen up.  There are four Levels in our Network and Channel Guide: Network/Channel/Show/Episode.  The image below is the “Network” Level.

 

 
• Select the Network of your choice.  For example, Action Sports.  Click.
• Select the Channel of your choice.  For example, Off-Road Racing.  Click.
• Select the Show of your choice.  For example, Baja Poker Run.  Click.
• Select the Episode of your choice.  Click.  Watch.  It’s that easy.

Any time you want to back up a Level in the Channel Guides, you can:

• Click on the ”Guide” Tab, found on the bottom of the Player, or
• Click on the left arrow button, found next to the Guide Tab, or
• Click on the box in the lower left corner of the Player.  Simple enough.

Whenever you’re at a Guide that has multiple Pages, you’ll see a Tab on the right side of the Player.  Click it to advance to the next page.  Return by clicking on the Tab that now appears on the left side of the Player.  You can also use the Slider button on the bottom of the Guide, it does the same thing.

Now, go back to an Episode Page with a list of available episodes.  Hover with your mouse over the episode and you’ll see a short episode description pop up.  Use the vertical slider button to scroll through episodes if necessary.  Once you’ve made a selection, Click.  Watch.

Player Controls [With the coolest feature ever]
While your episode choice is playing, hover over the Player with your mouse and you’ll see the Player Controls appear. 

 


 

Now check out these two controls:

➢ Second from the right, it looks like a circle with a “+” in it.  Click.  Full Screen.  Wow.  Now imagine an HD Show.  Well, you don’t need an imagination.  Check out our HD Theater in the Network Guide (Top Level), then go full screen.  Damn!

➢ Now, while you’re in full screen mode, try this — hover over the video with your mouse and the Player Controls appear.  You’ll see a little button to the far right; it looks like a mini-menu, that’s another Guide button.  Click.  Yep, just like traditional TV only better.  Use this Channel Guide just like you would anywhere else.  Either make a new selection or click on the transparent Tab at the top of the Guide and the Guide will disappear.  Now press the Play button and the video resumes Play. Cool, huh?  Any time you want to return to the KoldCast Player, click on the Player control that has a “-” in the circle.  Easy.

More Player-based Features
Head back to a video and start watching it.  Now, find the little circular icon just outside the Player at the lower left side.  It has a little “i” in it.  The “i” is for “information.” Click, and you’ll open a Video Information panel that contains several additional features including a ”Favorites” button and an ”Embed Clip” button.

Clicking on the Favorites button adds this video to your personal MyKoldCast Guide (found directly below the Player beneath the Guide button). Clicking on the Embed Clip button opens a small window that contains HTML code that you can copy and paste to your own web page, Facebook page, MySpace page, or other destination that accepts HTML code.  Once pasted, your selected video will appear and become playable within a new KoldCast TV Embeddable Video Player.  Within the Video Information panel, you can also add the video as a bookmark in other popular websites.  Close the Video Information Panel by clicking on the little Tab at the bottom of the panel.

Now, click on the circular icon outside the lower right side of the Player and you’ll open a ”User Comments” panel which displays Viewer comments on the respective video.  Add a comment and click on the ”Post” button.  Your comment will be added so that other Viewers can see it.  Close the User Comments panel by clicking on the little Tab at the bottom of the panel.

Now turn your attention to the transparent ”Episode Tab” that is running across the top of the Player.  It contains a 5-star video Rating capability, which also allows you to add a qualifying comment. It also contains an Email icon which, when clicked, opens an email field so that you can send a link to this video to your friends.  After you have entered your friend’s email address, click the ”Submit” button to send the link.  When this Tab is open, it shows you what Channel you’re in and which Show and Episode you’re playing.  This Tab does not appear until you have selected an episode to watch.

• KoldCast Featured: Displays videos we think you’ll enjoy.
• What’s New: Displays the last 50 videos we have added.
• MyKoldCast: Displays all videos you have added as personal favorites.
• CenterStage: Opens our Entertainment Industry MicroChannels and Database.
• The Vibe: Takes you to our Forums where you can communicate with other Viewers on any variety of entertainment related topics.

Remember, any time you want to return to the Network Guide, click the KoldCast Logo.

You have probably already noticed the ”CenterStage” button beneath our Player on KoldCast TV and maybe even taken a peek already.  This is but one of CenterStage’s features.  CenterStage is comprised of three major components:

➢ Talent MicroChannels: These are privately maintained Channels of talented and creative people enjoying careers in the entertainment industry.  They are open to you for your viewing and entertainment pleasure.  Here you can view video and still photography uploaded directly to MicroChannels by our CenterStage members.  You’re also able to view their respective résumés and read about their careers and interests.  Viewing our CenterStage MicroChannels is really quite simple.  From the main KoldCast TV page, simply click on the CenterStage button located beneath our Player, and you’re in.

➢ The CenterStage Database: All Talent MicroChannels within CenterStage are managed by a KoldCast/CenterStage Database which allows you to sort Talent by talent category, keywords, gender and other personal attributes.  Industry professionals, such as casting directors, producers, agencies and others, will find the CenterStage Database to be a great asset.

➢ The CenterStage Network/Channels: Located on the KoldCast TV Network Guide, we’ll be selecting some of the most popular and interesting videos from our CenterStage MicroChannels and featuring them, from time to time, in our main programming lineup within the CenterStage Network and related Channels, making it even easier for you to find and watch many of these truly entertaining videos.

Once you’ve Clicked into CenterStage from KoldCast TV…
…you’ll immediately see randomly selected photos of CenterStage Talent who have created their own MicroChannels.  Clicking on these photos will take you directly to their respective MicroChannels. 

There are two types of MicroChannels:  SpotLight and CenterStage.  The primary differences between them is that SpotLight MicroChannels offer a greater number of photo and video uploads than does a CenterStage MicroChannel, and SpotLight MicroChannels always appear at the top of search results pages.

Other actions that you can take on this page and all other CenterStage pages are:

➢ Perform a Talent Search: You can either enter your personal search criteria in the respective fields provided or, for a quick search of any Talent Category, simply click on one of the Talent Categories buttons and you’ll immediately be presented with the results of your search.  When using the Talent Search fields, be sure to click on the Search button to start your search.  TheAdvanced Search link, found just below the Search button, expands your search options when clicked.

Remember, if you want to view a specific MicroChannel, simply click on a photo image.

➢ Easily View SpotLight Featured Talent: Clicking on this link, found near the top of this page, will provide a scrolling photo list of SpotLight Talents who are being featured from time to time.  To change Categories, simply click on one of the Categories buttons.

➢ Find the Newest MicroChannels Added:  Clicking on the “Newest” link will provide a list of the most recent MicroChannels added.

➢ View your Personal My Favorites Selections:  Within each Talent MicroChannel is a button labeled “Add as Favorite” which can be found just below the thumbnail photo on the left side of the page.  When this button is clicked, the respective MicroChannel is added to your personal My Favorites page.  When you click on the My Favorites link at the top of any CenterStage page, your list of selections will appear, making it easier for you to view and follow the talent that has captured your eye and interests.

➢ See Who’s Hot: While beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, as they say, KoldCast will be populating the Who’s Hot list using a variety of criteria and statistics that we’ll be generating behind the scenes.  Remember, if your favorite Talent isn’t yet on the list, be sure to add ‘em to your personal My Favorites page.

➢ Feel The Vibe: You can feel the vibe, but you can’t feel the Talent!  The Vibe takes you to our Forums where you can communicate with other KoldCast TV Viewers, on any variety of entertainment related topics, including CenterStage Talent.

Inside a Talent MicroChannel:  3 More Buttons You Should Know About
• View Video and View Photos: Where you can switch between videos and photos.  You can also use the buttons immediately above our Media Player.
• Contact Artist: Clicking here provides you with blind email access to the respective Talent.  Remember, everybody wants respect from their Friends!

The KoldCast TV Media Player within Talent MicroChannels
Player Controls found on our Player within Talent MicroChannels are very similar to the Player Controls found on the KoldCast Advanced Media Player.  And, yes, you can view videos in full screen mode!  Just remember, some of the videos found in Talent MicroChannels are not intended to be KoldCast TV ready and they may have been shot with older, low resolution cameras, so full screen mode may not always be the best way to view them.  Click on the video thumbnail and watch.  The Photo page works the same way.  Select. Click. Enjoy.
